2)This is just a subdomain of verizon.com, with a redirect when you go to
www.verizon.com.
Nothing special about it, you can set it up through DNS for any domain,
although not all hosts allow you to make subdomains on their servers. You
can have anything as a subdomain though, doesnt have to be www.
